Is Telehealth Right for You?

In a moment, life changed. We all have our stories of where we were. We now had to figure out how and where to get groceries, how to zoom our lives, what to sanitize, and what we needed to do stay away from loved ones. It was quite something.

Most therapists I know scrambled to figure out how to continue seeing clients. People ask me if I do online therapy and if that's as good and effective as in-person therapy. Good question! The answer is... it depends! It depends on you... and on me. It depends on what we are working on, your personality and needs, my availability, and several other factors. I will say briefly that telehealth can work. You might want to just try it. I have found that with some clients I can connect well online, establish a positive working relationship, and do all the work, including trauma work, without ever meeting face to face. With others, we need that in-person dynamic. Ohers switch back and forth and enjoy the flexibility. Telehealth is here to stay, and I am here to say it is actually one of the gifts of a very difficult season for all. It could be just what the doctor ordered!

Therapy can feel vulnerable. You share thoughts and feelings and you allow another person in. You come with your stuff, try to make sense of it, and hope this professional can help you. Fairly often
